Traveling In Vietnam

On the mind.

Traveling Week 3 of 4 - Vietnam

Today, I am writing from Ninh Van Bay (link), Vietnam. You’ve probably never heard of it, but it’s a resort nestled on a beautiful coral-filled bay, lined by a white sand beach. I’m here with my family on a 2-week stop in Vietnam on our way home from India. No computer work, just fun!

Earlier this week, we spent 5 days in Ho Chi Minh City (or Saigon), Vietnam, a bustling city with close to 9 million people. We found some top-notch pho and amazing food. Now, we’re here on a beach with very few people. It’s a night and day difference between the two—big city vs. white sand beach with bungalows.

From Saigon, we took a 1-hour flight, followed by a 1-hour drive. Finally, you can only get to this resort via a 20-minute boat ride. I’m grateful to be here with my family, relaxing in a beautiful part of the world.

When I’m not behind a computer, you can find me outside with my family. Mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, running, surfing, anything outside.

I’ve always felt a strong connection to the outdoors. Maybe it was all the outdoor trips my dad took us on when I was younger, or maybe it’s something deeper. One of my big yearly resets used to be going backpacking—disconnecting, with no cell service, and sleeping under the stars. I always felt reset and reenergized when I got back to the computer after a backpacking trip.

So don’t be glued to your computer or phone too much. Get outside. It’s important. Try living in the moment.

It’s kind of ironic since I am sitting here writing this on vacation, typing on a computer, but as soon as I send this, I’m tapping out again.

I love computers. I also love the outdoors and my family.

Business.

It has taken seven years to build White Rabbit Group. That's not overnight, and we still have a long way to go to achieve our current vision.

It's a reminder that you have to keep going, and it takes time. You have to be ready and mentally prepared for it to take years, but never give up as long as it's working. If it's not working, give up fast!

As I am writing this, I am reminded of the book "Shoe Dog," a memoir by Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike. It’s now one of my favorite books that my friend, Mark Dorsey, recommended.

It took Phil Knight and Nike ten years to start taking off (founded in 1964) and nearly 20 more years to become a leading brand, which happened in the 1980s.

If you have never read the book, I highly recommend it.

The moral of "Shoe Dog" is the importance of perseverance, staying authentic, and never giving up on the vision. Despite numerous setbacks and challenges, staying committed to your goals and being willing to take risks can lead to great success.

This week's thought is a reminder that success does not happen overnight. Don’t be fooled, it takes hard work… and time.

One pic.

We’ve arrived in Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam.
