Some PM Tips

On the mind.
Dear Project Managers,
I’ve managed countless web projects. It’s what I’m best at: rallying a team, building things on the web from the ground up, and managing the whole process while trying to make the client extremely happy.
Here’s a few tips from me to you. Nothing groundbreaking, I’m just spitting these out quickly, and I hope you find them useful.
If your customer is following up with you, you’re dropping the ball. For example, a message like: “Hey Greg—I’m following up to check in on the build we’re launching in a couple of days. Where are we at with that?” When I receive something like this, my heart sinks.
Quick communication is underrated. Fast response time and giving them what they actually need (an estimate, an answer, anything) shows you’re on top of it and a pro. Try to even limit: “I’ll check with the team and get back to you.”
Two-minute rule. If something comes in (an email, a message, any task) and you can get it done in two minutes, do it right then. Knock it out. If it takes longer, add it straight to your to-do list. It’s not always easy to move that fast, so make sure your daily schedule is blocked out to handle work like this.
Extreme ownership. I make mistakes. We all do. But I own them. Blaming others gets you nowhere.
These aren’t just tips for Project Managers. This is overall some good communication and task management tips.
