Change It Up!

On the mind.

“Do you have advise on what to do when I lose momentum/motivation or I’m just feeling overwhelmed?”

Someone asked me this question recently, and looking back, I’ve been asked versions of it a few times this year.

When things feel off, I don’t usually sit back and keep pushing through the same routine. I like to change things up. I find that change helps break up that rhythm and introduces new things, which equals growth/learning. Although sometimes, no matter what, you have to push through the tough moments and see it through. So just know when to balance that.

Some examples to change it up:

  • When my workload starts to feel too heavy, I bring on help. I’ve done that with sales, writing code, UI/UX design, and one of my favorites: project and product management.

  • When my calendar starts to feel overloaded, I wipe it clean. I’ll remove almost everything, including recurring meetings, and rebuild it from scratch. A fresh schedule helps clear the mind and eliminate unnecessary meetings.

  • Sometimes the change is small. I’ll switch where I work, try a new routine, or make an extra turn on my normal run route.

For me, change creates space. It helps me reset, see things clearly, and move forward with better energy. At the current moment, I’m not changing much. The move back to Kauai brought enough shift in our lives. Things feel balanced. I wanted to share this, though, because it may help one or more of you reading this.

So if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, try to change something. It doesn’t have to be big (and most of the time doesn’t need to be big). Just something.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Happy 4th everyone! 🇺🇸
