On the mind.

Just over 10 years ago.

Below is a picture of Abhilash and me on one of my first trips to Kerala, India.

I look at this photo and I barely recognize the two people in it. Even though one of them is me and the other is Abhilash, my good friend and co-founder of White Rabbit Group.

Abhilash and I recently came across this photo, and I dropped it in our iMessage chat as a reminder to not forget where we started and to appreciate how much we’ve grown. This picture is to remind each other that:

• It’s a process. Building things takes time. To anyone reading this, I want to remind you: don’t get caught up in chasing quick results; real growth takes time.

• Take care of your body. Stay fit and eat real food. Abhilash and I weren’t in the best shape back then, but now we’re both committed to our health. I know neither of us would let ourselves go back to how we used to be.

• We’ve grown so much. I see two young lads in this photo, and it reminds me of how much we’ve learned and grown together.

• Doing things alone isn’t as much fun. Building something, like a company, with other people brings me so much more joy.

• Time is crazy, and life is short. Choose your business partner wisely. I sure did!

It takes a good business model, perseverance, and luck to build a successful company. My luck was finding Abhilash as my business partner — which was on a freelance platform called Odesk (now Upwork). That’s a whole story in itself, the “How we met and started White Rabbit Group” story. Maybe one day I’ll write that out and share it with you all.

Time. Consistency. Patience. Keep growing.
